What is a Solar Energy?

Nuclear fusion reactions (the conversion of hydrogen gas into helium) occurring deep inside the Sun's core produce large amounts of energy that is radiated out into space in the form of light and heat (radiation) from the Sun's surface. This radiation is known as solar energy. Even a small fraction of the energy emitted from the Sun is many times more than the current energy consumption of humanity, which is estimated to be about 20,000 times the energy used on Earth in a year.
